"There’s something special about Silent Night. It doesn’t just show what’s happening in Ukraine; it makes you feel it."

Welcome to Yorkshire

performance

The performance of our first documentary Silent Night: Convoy to Ukraine has been amazing. The film has had extensive media coverage, online success and extremely positive feedback. The documentary is currently on Prime Video and YouTube where it has 4,000 views. We also had multiple large sold out cinema screenings.

"Whilst watching it, you could tell there was almost an electricity in the room. It very much brings home what the people of Ukraine are having to face"

Multiple screenings

The documentary was lucky enough to have 4 screenings across the country, three in large cinemas and one at a prestigious university in Scotland. The first screening saw a sell out attendance of 270 people at the Everyman Cinema in Harrogate where 3 screens were filled.

The second screening was at a fantastic venue in Edinburgh called the Dominion Cinema. Again a sold out, with 170 people attend filling up their largest screen.

The third screening was at the University of St Andrews in Scotland, where around 60 staff members from the university attended a private screening to watch the film.

The fourth and final screening was at Reel Cinema's in Wakefield. The feedback from all four screenings was extremely positive and helped the film get recognised in multiple local and national media outlets such as the Yorkshire Post, LBC and BBC News Look North

Production

Solo filmmaking

All the footage you see in this film, other than the interviews, was filmed by Rhys Durkin when he travelled to Ukraine with Yorkshire Aid Convoy. This solo filmmaking approach really suited this documentary as it allowed the audience to put themselves into the shoes of the Ukrainians and the aid workers delivering the aid.

Once back home, interviews were recorded with the aid workers and a Ukrainian. These interviews were filmed by a two man team, Rhys Durkin and Louis Charlesworth. We also had help from a photographer and videographer at the premiere of the film in Harrogate.
